Faculty of Health Sciences Newsletter
For Better Public Health

In response to the rapidly spreading COVID-19 pandemic, the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the American University is pleased to announce launching the Anti-COVID19 Public Health Initiative (CAPHI). In the framework of this initiative, members of FHS are joining efforts with stakeholders and officials in raising awareness about the virus, interpreting data on its spread, conducting research, and publishing policy briefs and response plans to help counter it at the national level and beyond.

The CAPHI initiative positions FHS and the field of public health for a post  COVID-19 era in Lebanon, the region, and globally. The initiative aims at identifying priorities for action in research, practice, training, and policy on COVID-19; and designing, planning and evaluating a number of interdisciplinary interdepartmental faculty-wide projects in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, with specific focus on Lebanon.

On the CAPHI webpage you may find the studies and articles of our faculty members, newspapers, TV and radio interviews, as well as awareness campaigns, reports and policy briefs that they have proudly published to help the public and policy makers take informed decisions for effective prevention and management of this pandemic.

#FHSers' Perspective

"I am a Master of Public Health student at FHS. I have a Bachelor of Science in nursing from AUB. When AUBMC started preparing building 56 for fighting COVID 19, I volunteered to work there and fulfill my ambition in delivering patient care in every setting and in any situation. This is a pandemic and we are now the frontliners. This crisis could not have passed without being a member of this challenge. There are a lot of fears and stress but there are also feelings of joy and happiness with every patient being discharged after recovery."
